The death swing has been in full flow this morning aswel as last minute packing and sad faces as our time here came to an end. Group 4 with Ms McQuillin. Just had an amazing experience on the death swing .i climbed up the ladders ,which were scary, then got tied up and jumped off . and cleaning all the mucky kit ready for the journey home. Included a walk to Gold Scope mine and then up and over Kitten Bells mountain. Group 4 - Roddy's Rockets - 'Death Swing low ropes Harrison's Heroes. Orienteering was also on offer as well as the High ropes, and the infamous Death swing! Derwent Hill provide excellent waterproofs, walking boots and rucksacks. Everyone has completed a very long, tough hill walk which has required maximum effort and excellent team work. Mrs Norton's group had fun learning more about the Derwent Hill grounds during orienteering - and enjoying the glorious sunshine - this morning. I was so impressed by their team spirit, compassion and positivity. We had a fire alarm at half seven in the morning :(. This afternoon we completed the famous 'Death swing'. Day 4 at Derwent Hill. After another excellent night's sleep and a big breakfast the children split into groups to take part in our final activities of the week. Messages from Year 5 Hi mum love you loads having a real good time miss you lots . After lunch everyone had the chance to try the famous 'Death Swing' before another round on the low ropes course. The tasks involved lots of teamwork and persistence, as you will see. So exciting Lost property distributed at the end of the week. The death swing was awesome but gave us butterfly's, we have both been mountain walking all day. Today was a tiring day! 'Death Swing' and low ropes course this morning and rock climbing this afternoon. For some it was very scary but with lots of encouragement from the rest of the group, we all managed to do it. Mrs Fenwick and Group 4 went off to climb Waller Crag on a short hill walk while Group 2 tackled the Big Swing (aka The Death Swing) and low ropes course with Miss Kirby. Day 4. Today has been another exciting day at Derwent Hill, full of adventure and overcoming plenty of challenges such as the 'canoe hair wash!' Day 4 A day of getting really wet and having so much fun! Team 4 - Team Dan, had a fantastic time Gorge Walking and getting their tomato suits washed under a waterfall and orienteering in the grounds of Derwent Hill in the afternoon. The Big Swing . Derwent Hill's private walk-in campsite is a great secluded location for youth groups, DofE expeditions, outdoor clubs & extended families. & canoeing.
