We live in the most geographically diverse country on the planet, from arctic tundra to arid desert and everything in between, which is extremely cool. There's a strong Road Runner/Wile E. Coyote influence on the six shorts, which are all about two minutes long and packed with laughs. Dug, the wide-eyed, squirrel-chasing pup who can talk thanks to a voice contraption around his neck, is the perfect subject for the five eight-minute shorts, his innocent and naive perspective on the world producing heartfelt moments with his owner Carl (Ed Asner, in one of his final roles) and never overstaying its welcome. For Holland, though, the adventure will prove to be far more eye-opening than he initially imagines, with the exuberant Maisie showing him that there's more to life than hunting so-called terrifying monsters from the deep. Scrat becomes the reluctant guardian of a cute baby squirrel, and his fondness for the child comes in conflict with his overwhelming desire for nuts, as he tries to get the baby's acorn.

Movie and TV aficionados might think that offerings from Netflix, Disney Plus, and company would dry up during the summer months. Netflix's TV show offerings are pretty lean for July, but the streaming giant more than makes up for it with a number of enticing documentary series instead. It's a show that anyone 12 and up could enjoy, which seems to be an audience Disney+ is trying to lock in, judging by some of its less kid-friendly recent additions.
